Since 2013, in addition to speaking at churches, Bible studies, and religious youth groups, Steve has visited dozens of classrooms across Vancouver Island, Hawaii, and San Jose and has taught hundreds more students over 3 years managing the University of Victoria Campus Telescope. He has hosted school field trips, public open houses for phenomena such as planetary transits and eclipses, and university research classes. Throughout this time, he also co-organised Teachers’ Workshops and created a variety of resources for “DIY science activities” suitable for classrooms and home schools.
During the pandemic, Spaceman Steve also shared science videos from his former home in Hawaii to help with homeschooling and to encourage lifelong learning. He has also hosted in-person and virtual panels featuring esteemed scientists from around the world on subjects like black holes and life as an astronomer.
